Thomas Schaefer

I am a Professor in the Department of Physics at North Carolina State University. I am a member of the Nuclear Theory Group at North Carolina State, and a (former) fellow at the RIKEN-BNL Research Center.

I work on QCD (the theory of quarks and gluons), many body effects in atomic, nuclear, and particle physics, as well as transport theory. I have studied topological phenomena in gauge theories (instantons), color superconductivity and the phase structure of dense QCD matter, the many-body physics of resonantly interacting fermions (the BEC/BCS crossover), and the transport properties of nearly perfect fluids.
